Deepak Chopra Diet

Overview

Deepak Chopra is a world famous expert in the area of mind body medicine. Dr. Chopra was a medically trained physician and was previously the Chief of Staff and the New England Memorial Hospital. Most noted for writing books about spirituality and metaphysics, Dr. Chopra has also authored quite a few books on diet including, Perfect Health and Perfect Weight among many others. Dr. Chopras approach to weight loss is one of the most unusual among typical diet recommendations found in most books. The diet recommendations come from Ayurveda, an ancient East Indian folk philosophy. The premise is that each individual has one of three basic personality types and that each person should consume a diet in harmony with their type. The three different types are the Vata, Pitta and Kapha. For example the Pitta is the fire personality and is typified by people with fiery or temperamental personalities. The Pitta type should eat a diet that includes butter, lychee, oranges, peaches, pomegranate, cucumber, bitter melon, radishes, spinach, squash, wheat, rice and millet. Other oddities of the diet include the recommendation to only drink water at extremely hot temperatures and never drink it cold.

Pros:

Low in Processed Foods: Whether or not your personality type affects your foods digestion is highly debatable, what isnt though, is that a diet filled with natural foods and free from processed carbs and sugars will likely lose you weight.
Cons:

Too out there: Many people will find the diet too bizarre and outside the norm to be a practical permanent solution for weight loss.
Bottom Line

If at the end of the day youre looking to lose the weight permanently, you dont have to resort to ancient Indian mystic practices. There are plenty of other diets out there that will get the job done that are proven to work.
